Stéphane Pencréac'h: “Zencreac’h: Le Jugement Dernier”

Stéphane Pencréac’h, Untitled, 2003, mixed media collage on canvas, 18” x 14”

Visions of a Hard-Core Prophet

The paintings scream. They pound at your eyes. It isn’t a question of whether or not they let you in. They swallow you whole and, at the same time, stuff your eyes full. These are voracious visions, fearless and bold. They send electricity through your veins. Once your field of vision has been surrounded by the colors, the photos, the holes, the surfaces, it is like being inside an exploding missile. There is no time for the brain to process all the details and layers packed into each painting.
