Nu Som: “Nudescapes Private Dreams in Public Places”
The Poetry of Public Privacy
Each photograph can stand on its own as a beautiful still. But by revealing the process and visualizing the enactment of the artist as both model and photographer, one is able to flow deeper inside the image to discover the private pleasure and thrill of the experience that went into creating it. Now our experience of looking is enhanced, and by taking away the classic voyeur’s gaze, looking at the image from outside, we can actually step into the place of the posed nude and identify with Nu Som. The experience may be virtual or vicarious, but it still activates the sublime and renews the understanding that privacy is freedom.
