We have our shades on because we’re ALL IN for agritourism and the 3rd annual Florida Local Food Summit. The weekend gathering of food gurus is slated for September 8th, 9th & 10th. The Florida Food Summit is an unusual opportunity to meet and talk with our state’s top food and farming entrepreneurs, policy makers, chefs, foodies and local food fans. It’s your one stop shop for all things local food and farming. Farm tours, advanced education, farm-to-table meals, a Grower’s Festival, home gardening classes and so much more are scheduled. You aren’t going to want to miss it and we certainly wouldn’t!
Lange: Art, Agriculture, Agritourism will present an afternoon workshop on Friday, September 9th to help urban, coastal, and rural farmers bring the public onto their farms and tell the story of their products and process. Agritourism is a powerful revenue stream and a fabulous way to engage in creative placemaking. Founder and CEO Shauna Lee Lange will take us on a photo tour of some of what’s currently trending globally and much of what is happening today throughout our state to share the tremendous possibilities that exist. Lange is a Florida agritourism pioneer and also the Founder of Boca Grande Farmers Market on a remote barrier island in Southwest Florida.
You think you have barriers to success that can be difficult to overcome? This two-day intensive summit not only includes expert speakers and a full day of tours of successful agritourism operations; it will leave participants with a deeper understanding of the marketing options, legal issues, operations and infrastructure, and aesthetics that make for a meaningful agritourism enterprise.
The event is held at the East End Market, a neighborhood market and food hub in the Audubon Park Garden District of Orlando, Florida. The Market showcases some of Central Florida’s top food entrepreneurs, tradespeople, artists, and chefs. The two-story structure is home to a dozen merchants, a large event space, a demonstration kitchen, an incubator kitchen, offices, retail shops, a full-time, award-winning caterer and a world-class restaurant.
