animals of hay: the new topiary

From the Netherlands today, we have three dimensional artist Michael Hoedjes.   He recently had a project on a farm making hay-animals to connect farmers and city-people through art.

This video is dutch spoken but the images and tone images will do to help you see how and why this artist makes animals of hay from a branch infrastructure (and not wire forms as I originally thought).  The branches decompose to compost after about half a year.  These are charming, natural and fantastic country roadside additions with little to no oversight or care.

Michael was in farming as a young adult and always kept the connection. He calls the work land art and uses his creations to lift people out of the depravity of materialism.
