About 8.4 million vehicles drive through Brattleboro, Vermont via I-91 each year. One or more art installations within sight of the highway would give travelers a unique sense of the town and region.

Potential billboard art sites include a lawn, an exit circle, the berm and fence at a solar array, and the sides of houses, buildings and garages facing I-91. Themes, such as environment, technology, agriculture, diversity and progressive Yankee ideals, could be communicated.

Except there has been a ban on Vermont billboards since 1968.  Proposals to change the legislation include multi-leveled layers of approvals and community input.  Several large-scale public art billboard projects have successfully launched throughout the country, notably one from Jacksonville, FL to Los Angeles, CA.
