A few years ago, my daughter attended a swanky Brooklyn barge party and was taken by the use of the platform as green space for multiple container-grown veggies and fruits.
Mary Mattingly‘s Swale is an expansion of the idea; a leased barge that will float for six months through the Hudson. Mattingly’s “food forest” will allow up to 300 people a day to experience installation art tied to public food and spaces. We love it! More on the project is here.
