I believe mental health usually comes second to physical health. From what I learned in the last four years at Dragon Within Martial Arts-- is health is the whole body,including the mind. The reason I joined Dragon Within was not to become athletic, learn self-defense or even to earn belts. I joined for mental health. I decided to partake in the one thing that I thought I would dislike the most and go every day for one month.
Then I could leave knowing I completed my goal. Having never been athletic I signed up at Dragon within. I forced myself to be in the front of the room and every class was physically and mentally awkward and my anxiety was at a all time high--but I fought through it. I met incredibly nice people and the instructors actually helped me and gave me there full attention. Before I knew it my month was up, I had completed my goal.
However, somewhere in that month, something changed in me. I fell in love with martial arts! My whole body changed. My mental attitude changed. I had balance and felt healthy. I knew from that moment that I will always be involved in martial arts for the rest of my life. Dragon Within has improved my being, but what really makes Dragon Within Martial Arts so special is the incredibly nice students and instructors.
